How to Make Beard Straight (Simple Tips)

How To Make Beard Straight

In this post, we will cover tips on how to make a beard straight and keep it from sticking out. I know from personal experience that an unruly beard hair can make you look shaggy and unpresentable.

Here is a list of tips on how to make beard straight and keep beard hair from sticking out

  • Clean your beard with a shampoo that has a leave-in conditioner
  • Pat dry your beard with a towel, avoid using a hairdryer
  • Apply a good beard conditioner
  • Apply good quality beard balm and oil
  • Make it a habit of brushing or combing your beard in a downward direction
  • Use a pair of scissors or a good quality beard trimmer
  • Be patient and let them grow out

Causes of stray beard hair

Stray beard hair that sticks out is caused by poor beard grooming techniques. For instance, how you comb your beard will play a major role in their overall appearance.

Using the wrong beard grooming products. This means using products that leave your beard dry and frizzled and lead to split ends by removing the moisture from your beard.

Not using any beard grooming products. Well, it goes without saying you will need several beard grooming products of the right quality to maintain your beard.

How to make beard straight and keep beard hair from sticking out

Clean your beard with a shampoo that has a leave-in conditioner

Grab yourself a good quality beard shampoo that can clean your beard and still leave it conditioned.

It should rather easily and have no residues, in short, it should be made of natural organic ingredients.

Wash your beard thoroughly and make sure to massage the skin beneath the beard with your beards for a thorough cleaning.

The shampoo will clean your beard and the leave-in conditioner will soften your beard making it easier to maintain and get rid of the hairs sticking out.

Pat dry your beard with a towel, avoid using a hairdryer

Once you are through with shampooing your beard, pat dry it with a cotton towel, I have found a cotton towel to work best since it can soak up the excess water.

Note, do not dry completely, and never ever use a hairdryer on your beard. The heat will damage your beard and also rip off the beard of its moisture.

Apply a good high-quality beard conditioner

The reason why I insist on the quality of beard conditioner is so that, you buy a conditioner that is additives-free, additives such as sulfates and paraben will only harm your beard.

Apply the conditioner thoroughly into your beard and the skin beneath it. Use your fingers to make sure you apply the conditioner from the root to the shaft of the beard.

Give it about ten minutes to soak in the conditioner well. Note do not overdo it rem you had used a shampoo with a leave-in conditioner.

If you overdo it will be just trickle down your neck and mess your clothes.

Apply good quality beard balm and oil

After washing your beard thoroughly and applying a good conditioner and ensuring your beard has absorbed the conditioner properly, it is time to use quality beard oil, by now you should be seeing less beard hair sticking out and at the same time, your beard should feel smooth and appear shiny.

Grab a good quality beard oil and apply about two to three drops of beard oil, it all depends on the length and thickness of your beard.

Once again, do not overdo it, if you overdo it, the beard oil will just trickle down your neck and mess your clothes. Leave the beard oil to soak in for about another five or ten minutes.

Then rub a small amount of beard balm into your palm until it melts and then apply it into the beard hair and style it to your liking.

At this point, if you have adhered to the tips as directed you should be seeing very few beards sticking out.

When buying beard oil for purposely softening and taming the unruly beard hair, make sure the beard oil contains a mixture of Jojoba and argan oil.

I have had success softening and taming my unruly hair by using a mixture of argan and Jojoba oil plus a few drops of tea tree oil.

According to research macadamia oil calms, smoothes, and adds shine to the beard. The calming and smoothening effect of the macadamia oil will help in taming the stray beard.

The emollient qualities of macadamia oil enables it to smoothen beard and make it easy to manage your beard.

Macadamia oil also aids in strengthening the beard which prevents breakage when combing or brushing making it easy for someone to style their beard.

Make it a habit of brushing or combing your beard in a downward direction

Always use a good quality beard comb or brush to comb and brush your beard in a downward direction.

This will not all only straighten your beard but will also help your beard to soak up the beard conditioner, oil and balm applied earlier.

Make it your habit of brushing your beard downwards whenever you brush or comb your beard.

This trick alone has helped me keep my beard from sticking out and most of the time I do not have to use beard trimmers or scissors.

I have also had some success using a toothbrush to brush my beard especially after applying beard oil and balm.

Use a pair of scissors or a good quality beard trimmer

If for some reason your beard still has some hair sticking out. Grab a good quality beard trimmer or scissors and gently cut the stray beard hair.

Be extra careful not to overdo it, you do not want to end up with a beard that do not have a uniform look.

Instead of cutting my beard bearing in mind the kind of effort and patience it takes to grow a perfect beard and money of course in terms of high-quality beard growth and maintenance products.

I abstain from cutting my beard as much as I can. But if you can’t help it, be gentle and cut the stray hairs.

Give your beard time and let it grow

When the beard is growing it tends to be unruly and might be growing in any direction.

If you are patient enough and give it time and of course proper care you may be surprised how it will be easy to tame those unruly beard hair strands.

Wrap up

If you have followed my step-by-step tips on how to make a beard straight and keep beard hairs from sticking out, by now you should be having a well-kept beard with little or no beard hair sticking out.

Remember, however, not to shampoo your beard every other day. For me, I just shampoo my beard once or twice a week, or thrice depending on what I will be doing within the week.

If I will be engaging in sweaty activities or will be working in a dirty prone environment, I shampoo my beard thrice.

For the days that you are not shampooing just skip to conditioner and stick to the other tips and you will be fine.
